Before the detailed feedback and write up of the experience, the self-enquiry and final thoughts on the whole experience, I want to park here some of the pictures I have taken of the process, starting with the [ingenious] system I used to hang the paper since nothing was available: And here are some of the pictures I have taken along the way, starting from yesterday: And then moving on to today: And this is now the “final piece”: #cryptgallery #research #abstract #london #res

on love

I am in London, for my research residency at The Crypt Gallery on seen and being seen, my before nothing, and everything is going well. I am at the end of day 02 and tomorrow I will finish and go back home. But this is not the time nor the place to write about #beforenothing. I want to write about London. And about what I feel now, being here. I don't know if you read my previous post on possibilities and a woollen skirt, but for a woman who spent the best parft of one whole

before nothing /residency

It’s Thursday afternoon, and everything is almost ready for me to go. I don’t actually even know how I got to this moment, where my large suitcase is full, on the floor in my living room, waiting for me to grab it, jump on a coach, and wake up tomorrow morning in London. But from tomorrow, for 3 days, I will be doing / performing / making / showing … my before nothing in a gallery in London, at The Crypt. There have been back and forth of emails and plans, and cancellation of

ucas : update

I have applied to 5 universities: Blackburn Carlisle Lancaster London – Chelsea York – St John I have received 4 invitations to interviews and 1 rejection as “previous qualifications not enough”. Of course, I know that if 4 out of 5 accept my previous qualifications, there must be something else and this something else has nothing to do with me. So, their loss. I went to all the 4 interviews. I have received 3 offers and I am still waiting for the last offer back. I am gather

I liked the simplicity and congruence, from start to finish, of the whole exhibition: simple lines, mono-colour in its own various tones.

Again, I felt the same vibe: independence, opportunities, possibilities, openness. Trust. She allowed me to trust her, again, and so I did.

London WE02 PM

After a very short stop at the Imperial War Museum (which I did not visit bar for the Buddhist Garden), we all headed for the Tate Modern, bearing in mind that at 3pm our coach would have been outside to pick us up. You can imagine how much can someone see of the Tate Modern in such a short period of time:  barely the surface! Just the building should have caught someone’s attention and should have deserved time to be appreciated. Then, all the works and pieces and installati

London WE01 AM

Wednesday morning it was me-time and alone I set off from the hostel and went to the British Museum. Again, I haven’t been there since 1987, I believe. So much has changed, but I felt embraced when I stepped in. To be totally honest with you, I “sneaked in before it opened” and so I enjoyed a good 30 minutes alone, really alone, in the museum. I just wanted to see the area devoted to Babylonians and Assyrian (and then the Egyptians). I tell you a little story: I don’t remembe

London TU01 PM

Let me tell you, before anything else: I love London. And I adore travelling. The experience of being on a coach, among other students, and being stuck on the M6 while going South took me back years (my year of A-levels back in 1986), when I used to go fairly often to London. And the city didn’t disappoint me. At all. The autumn light, a bright blue sky, yellow leaves, buzzing people, the river. It was all there for me. So, this post is not going to be deep as in content as I

I was watching a documentary on Christo (and Jeanne-Claude) on the BBC the other evening exploring his new installation, the Mastaba, in London (more here). Not only… But I am also in awe of Marina Abramović (here) and I was wondering if I like those two artists because they come from a land very close to mine; because they are “borderline”. They are people who live and breathe borders and boundaries, in multiple shapes and forms. One is Serbian, the other one is Bulgarian. T
